:: Architecture :: Buildings :: Frantoio

Frantoio is the Italian term for olive oil press. When completed, the Frantoio, located in Paso Robles, California, will be used to press, bottle, and sell olive oil made from olives grown on the site and from nearby orchards.

The Frantoio was designed to incorporate many green building systems, including straw bale walls and SIP (structural insulated panel) roofs, as well as radiant hydronic heating in the walls and a natural ventilation cooling system.

I worked on the frantoio with Integrated Structures (http://www.integratedstructures.com/) an architecture, structural engineering, and construction management company committed to a comprehensive approach to designing and building with the goals of achieving timeless beauty and environmental sustainability. I worked for ISI from August 2008 to January 2010.
